Research from the 2013 Private Duty Benchmarking Survey from Home Care Pulse shows that the number one method for marketing your home care business to consumers is your web site and search engine optimization (SEO). That means that family members who are on the internet looking for home care services in your community are finding your web site based on search engine rankings.
Recently, Stephen Tweed, CEO of Leading Home Care and Founder of the Academy for Private Duty Home Care® was speaking at a home care conference in Pennsylvania. One of the exhibitors was a digital marketing company and their CEO, Michael Meyer, has written a book called “SEO 3.0: The New Rules of Search Engine Optimization.”
As we looked through this book, there were some really important points that you want to take into consideration when updating your web site, or when working to improve your search engine rankings. Here are some key points he made:
- Get leads, not clicks – forget about how many people clicked on your site. How many actually inquired about your services?
- The Big Three are now the Big Two – since Yahoo started using Microsoft’s Bing search function, you need to focus on Google and Bing for SEO.
- Keep Tracking with Google Analytics – See which key words people use to find your site, which pages they come in and leave on, and learn which pages are most popular.
- Get Cracking on Call Tracking – Set up an automated call tracking system to know which calls came from which marketing technique, and which ones converted to an assessment and eventually to an admission
