You Can’t Manage What You Don’t Measure

By Jill Scott, Manager of Member Services

2016 Benchmarking StudyLast week we told you that the 2016 Home Care Benchmarking Survey is now open.  Well, we also received Aaron Marcum’s February Letter from the CEO with a very important message, which is one that we also preach wholeheartedly…you can’t measure what you don’t manage.

Here is Aaron’s Letter from the CEO:

W. Edwards Deming once said, “You can’t manage what you don’t measure,” which has become increasingly relevant as data tracking has become the norm across service industries. Detailed and consistent performance measurement allows business owners to identify specific weaknesses and to change accordingly. So whether it’s measuring sales, gauging the success of a marketing campaign, or evaluating client satisfaction, business owners benefit from data analytics, and companies that don’t track their performance against their competitors and themselves fall behind.

As part of a service industry, home care providers have a growing need for quality data and performance benchmarks that allow them to compare, measure, and improve their agencies. Since 2009, Home Care Pulse has provided the home care industry with valuable, comprehensive data through The Home Care Benchmarking Study, formerly known as the Private Duty Benchmarking Study. This study provides timely, detailed charts and information that help providers to track industrial and regional trends and make adjustments in their agencies to stay competitive.

This important data is available thanks to the participation of home care providers like you. When you contribute to the Benchmarking Study by completing the annual survey, you expand the range and accuracy of industry data. Even more important than that, however, is that by completing the survey you are taken through evaluating your progress over the past year, setting you up to make data-driven decisions for improving your business in 2016, which is perhaps the primary reason you should participate.

For this and many other reasons, we value your support of this study and encourage your participation. For those who participate, there are impressive benefits, such as $200 off your pre-order of the 2016 Home Care Benchmarking Study if you participate by February 15th and two free groundbreaking reports. Plus, by participating in the survey portion of the study, you will make a valuable contribution to our industry, which in turn can help you and your team make more educated management decisions for your agency. Participating in the study is simple. You can find step-by-step instructions at http://benchmarking.homecarepulse.com/participate/.

Thank you for your continued support of the home care industry and the 2016 Home Care Benchmarking Study.

Warmest Regards,
Aaron Marcum, Founder & CEO
Home Care Pulse

You all know by now how important we believe the Benchmarking Study is.  So again, we would encourage you to participate in the survey today and order your copy of the study so that you not only know your benchmarks, but also where you stand in comparison to the industry as a whole and to the industry leaders.
