According to the 2015 Private Duty Benchmarking Study from Home Care Pulse, the number one thing that sets home care providers apart from their competition is “Caregivers – High Quality.”  In another part of the study, 62.8% of home care company owners listed “Caregiver Shortages” among the top three threats facing their companies.

Finding and Keeping caregivers is critical to your company’s success.

According to the 2015 Private Duty Caregiver Recruiting Study from Leading Home Care and Caregiver Quality

Recruiting Caregivers Image for WebsiteAssurance, the  most effective caregiver recruiting strategies can be organized into three categories:

  1. Digital Recruiting
  2. Employee and Client Referrals
  3. Face to Face recruiting

While digital recruiting has expanded exponentially over the past few years, our study shows that online recruiting alone is not enough.  The best caregivers in our industry are already happily working for someone else, and they are not on Craig’s List or Indeed.com looking for jobs.  We have also seen that relying on digital recruiting has made for lazy recruiters who don’t get out of the office and make connections with high potential sources.  Our data show that while online recruiting brings in high numbers of applicants, the quality of applicants is low and recruiters spend a huge amount of time sorting through the applications and trying to select the best.

Ad Copy Makes All the Difference

One of the key learning points that came out of this year’s study is that most of the popular recruiting methods work when implemented effectively.  They key is writing good copy in your job ads.  We have seen tests where two different ads run in the same medium draw very different numbers of high quality applicants.

So the lesson from our study is this:

“Develop a three-pronged recruiting strategy, write terrific ad copy, and then execute with excellence.   The key to your success in recruiting is repetition and consistency.”
